What are essential oils?
They are aromatic concentrated extracts and the very essence of the plant.
The parts of plants used include flowers, grasses, leaves, the peel of fruit, wood, root, beans, needles, seeds and twigs.
A partial list of the essential oils used in our products is shown below.
If you have a favorite scent, click on the link to find the products in our line that contain that essential oil. You will also see the aromatherapy benefits said to be derived from the plant essence.
The oils are produced through three methods:
- distillation - with either water or steam
- expression - mechanically processed, known as cold pressing
- maceration - where the plant is placed in warm water to steep, thus causing the oils to seperate from the source
